A modern day story about making a fortune in the world of West Texas oil rigs.. Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, workers’ housing (camp people), oversee the assembly of excavation machinery, and the drilling of the site itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part Fixer, Problem Solver, and Facilitator, as well. For someone so focused on her goals, including an emotionally unstable one-woman circus completely undermines the purpose of the show. It feels like her character disrupts the central narrative, adding unnecessary chaos rather than supporting his journey. The portrayal doesn’t enhance the story, but instead makes it harder to make a decision and focus seriously. Similarly, the roles of both his wife and daughter feel out of place in the show. The wife seems emotionally unstable, while the daughter seems to lack intellectual depth, making her contributions to the plot negligible. The daughter’s portrayal feels particularly shallow, with her character offering little beyond surface-level involvement that adds no value to the story. Aside from drawing viewers, it feels out of sync with the tone of the show. Rather than enhancing the plot or character dynamics, this approach comes across as a superficial attention-grabbing tactic. It’s a strange and unnecessary addition that detracts from the overall quality of the narrative.
