Bob Trevino likes to say that writer/director Tracy Lehman was inspired by a real-life friendship she found with a stranger while searching for her father online. Lily Trevino, who often plays the role of a caregiver for people like her father who are supposed to take care of her, yearns for a family connection, abandoned by her mother as a child and then suddenly abandoned by her father in her twenties. Bob Trevino works long hours alone at a construction company to support his wife, Jeanie, with her scrapbooking habit. The couple has endured a lot over the past decade, and Bob has tried to put his wife first, to the point of neglecting his own feelings and need for friendship, meaning, and connection — that is, until an unexpected Facebook message from a stranger. Lily and Bob’s blossoming friendship becomes an important source of connection and healing in both of their lives. Bob’s small acts of kindness fill a family void in Lily’s life and have the power to change her direction forever. Both must learn in their own ways that they are worthy of the extraordinary love that is represented through small acts of kindness.
