«I’m Still Here» is a powerful depiction of a moment in Brazilian history that shocked many people. In a well-constructed atmosphere, the viewer enters the country’s past, a past repressed and ignored by the country itself, which makes the experience of watching «I’m Still Here» in a Brazilian cinema even stronger.
Of all the Brazilian directors, Walter Salles stands out for his talented direction and interesting cinematography, and the production is really impressive
The actors are talented and I would like to highlight the younger actors who definitely give the film some depth and beauty needed to make us feel the «magic of cinema». As for the human side present in I’m Still Here, it is nice to see a film by a director who truly understands cinema, one who does not present alienated ideas but rather a pure and authentic human expression.
Beautiful film, beautiful message and beautiful performances
As a Brazilian, I will of course root for Walter Salles’ work to be nominated for an Oscar, but I think the goal of creating a national cinema that people will talk about again has already been achieved.
